More variety of game objectives and maps: 1-2 games each for
Regular % games
- Classic, need a couple of these games not not too many as I find it a bit boring compared to the other ones
- Consider a point system where the team earns exactly as much % as they controlled (up to 2 decimals) - e.g. 10% = 1 season point (sps), 20% = 2 sps, 23.47 = 2.35 sps, etc. and cumulate a total for every game
- To award the top teams, multipliers could be used (1st = 1.5x, 2nd = 1.3x, 3rd = 1.1x) although it could be tedious to manage and complicated to follow and understand
- With this, teams will be strategical with determining their % goals before the game and during the game to ensure they keep as a contender
- Pro: teams earn exactly what they deserve
- Con: it may not be as competitive when teams are fighting each other and I predict most teams will be satisfied with their performance 5 minutes before the game end, which should be more exciting
- Could combine the control point aspect by having the koth count at the 20, 40, and 60 minute marks - that way we can have 3 exciting koth battles and the koth won't be useless for the first 50 minutes of the game!!
Multi-Koth
- Also exciting, the iconic Enneadec Colosseums map from last season is a good amount of koths and appropriate values (although I feel being able to teleport in the koths should not be allowed nor being able to tp out of bounds into the grey areas)
Tiered % (not too much of a fan of this one)
- Not too different from a regular % game so I wouldn't suggest more than one game of this
Control Points
- Would be too chaotic if there was only one control point at a time, consider 2 active control points to go for, ~3 teams each per control point which is more realistic that a team is able to capture and control it
- or have the points spread out every 10 minutes and announce the next point 15 minutes before it is counted, that way teams can plan for two points at a time and the stream can focus on one at a time
Extra small % (1/2x map size, 1/2x blast radius, 2x leveling speed if that's controllable, otherwise 20 or 24 spawn level would suffice)
Statistic Objectives
- I think statistic objectives could also be interesting although I can think of many reasons it wouldn't be
- Most Kills as a Team - good idea to award some bonus point for this although if a team continually wipes another team (which I think shouldn't happen in elites but probably will if lime and dg don't improve) this would be too easy
- Least Deaths as a Team - probably makes things unexciting as teams are too afraid to fight each other
- Highest Combined Score - map grinding is boring so probably not
- Highest Kills/Deaths or Kills-Deaths as a Team - combination of cons from both highest kills and least deaths
- Highest Individual Score - sort of interesting as teams will have to give all closes and towers to one player and protect them at all costs - could be boring
Or you can combine them all sorta:
- Gamemode 1: % + Multi-Koth - Enneadec Colosseums map except the % counts too!
- Gamemode 2: % + Control Points - Control Points map except the % counts too at the end!
Point System
I think we can all agree that the 321 point system (from s9) is terrible compared to the 6...1 system (from s8).
While awarding more points to the top teams makes sense, the bottom 2 teams often are left with no choice but to make their way towards the koth very early on. I think that all teams should have a % goal at all times, so I also heavily suggest this point system:
